Iron – Fe 50ml

10.00

Iron is a vital element for living organisms.

The role of iron in the body is almost exclusively limited to the transport of oxygen in the blood through the haemoglobin present in red blood cells and the formation of haemoglobin and myoglobin.

Iron also plays a vital role in energy production as a component of various enzymes.

Iron is stored mainly in the liver within the iron stores of ferritin and haemocidrin proteins.

Interactions can occur between iron and other metals such as copper, manganese, zinc and chromium.

In general, calcium inhibits the absorption of iron, which may be relevant in relation to iron supplementation with milk or calcium-rich foods.

Dietary sources rich in iron include liver, meat, meat, beans, nuts, dried fruits, poultry, fish, whole or enriched grains, whole or enriched cereals, soy flour, and most dark green leafy vegetables.
