What is Royal Jelly?

Royal jelly is a highly nutritious, viscous, white creamy substance, with a peculiar odour and subacidic-slightly pungent taste which is secreted by the pharyngeal glands of young worker bees.

It is intended to be fed to nymphs in the first stage of their development and is the exclusive diet of queen bees throughout their life (bee milk).

It was for this reason that in 1788 the famous Swiss zoologist Frannois Huber gave this substance the name ‘royal jelly’.

The fact that the larvae intended for queens are fed exclusively with

royal jelly has the following effects on the queens:

1. To grow in 16 days
2.  To be 42°/o larger in size and 60 % more in weight.
3.  Have increased productivity (they can lay up to 1200 eggs per day).
